Today, too many kindhearted but misdirected churches and seminaries allow men to become pastors who should not be in the ministry. Many pastors are spiritually immature even though they completed their seminary training and they have a poor grasp of Scripture. They know the systematic theology taught by the seminary they attended, but they cannot and do not know all of the Bible. It is impossible in a three year seminary course of study to have been taught all sixty six books of the Bible in depth.

They love being busy but not with the Word of God. What does he want to do and what does he do? Any meeting should include the current elders and the elders who left. If the elders refuse to meet with congregants in one of the above scenarios, then the elders’ spiritual qualifications are in doubt and they should possibly step down from office. Additionally, if the pastor was the decision maker in refusing to meet with congregants, then the pastor is like Diotrephes (3 John 9-10). If the current leadership refuses, then the concerned members should feel the freedom to leave the church.

The requirement assumes that everyone is witness of the same sin at the same time, and to the same lack of repentance.
